    New Post?

Wow, it sure has been a while, huh?

OK, where did we leave off? *Crickets chirping*

    Hmmm, I don't recall either.

Let's start from where I can remember, shall we?

It is almost Christmas time and we are about to end yet another year. So what is so different about this year? Eh, maybe nothing. Maybe a lot. Probably something in between.

I'm dating Max. I'm dating him and I love him. And I'm IN love with him. Pretty cool, right? Yeah, I think so, too! :-)

We have a kitty. We have a kitty whose name is: Dr. Kitty Fantastico. He has a degree. No, really.

I have three jobs. Crazy. I am still a loyal barista for the local establishment known as Lakota Coffee. Which means I still get to roll out of bed, splash my face with water (if it's a good day) and go to work looking a hot mess.

I work at the Sacred Heart Church. I sing. This means, I still roll out of bed (not showered, mind you), splash some water on my face and go and sing for two hours.

I work at the Psychiatric Center. I get to hang out with people and try and persuade them that a van down by the riverside probably isn't the best option they have going for them. Looking a hot mess isn't required, but totally acceptable sans holes in jeans and stains on shirts.

I am a full fledge music major and as it turns out, not too shabby when it comes to theory. Hopefully, this means I have a one-way ticket to graduate school, which will probably drop me off near a town called Living in a Box on the street named Paying Student Loans Forever Boulevard.

Plus, my relationship with my friends is phenomenal. I am almost brought to tears when I think of just how special every single of them are to me.

Double plus, mom and dad are totally on my side now, not to mention my family is wonderful, albeit absolutely insane.

Shout out to Aunt Karen and James, if you two are reading this.

So, what have we learned about DJ from 2009?

He can do music. One day, he can help you do music, too.

He is in love with a boy and a kitty. The latter is strong competition for the first, however I have a feeling the opposable thumbs that belong to Maxwell will eventually be the deciding factor with whom I shall call my number one.

And lastly, I am a hot mess. In class, at work, even right now.

    And I couldn’t be happier.

    70 Degrees?

You read correctly, it is in fact 70 degrees here in Columbia, Missouri... in the middle of February... the middle of winter. To top off this wonderful weather, I'm sick. Boo. The world must be coming to an end.

In other cheerful news, the opera is going very well. Kyle and I blend amazingly well and its very exciting to sing with him and Molly. Kyle, Trent, Tim and I can not cut our hair... so my hair is going to be out of control come April 18th.

Also, this Friday, the reboot of the series "Friday the 13th" comes out. I know... it's very trashy. But I do not care :) I will be seeing it (and hopefully not alone!).

    I Love You

Of course, I am talking about you! ;-)

Anyone who reads this, I am talking about you. I just want to express to everyone in my life that I am SOOO grateful to have every single one of you blessing me with your presence. Even though sometimes we don't always get along, we always come back to a point of honesty, understanding and acceptance, and I think those are the important attributes of a good friendship. So... go YOU!

    See Ya '08!

Sorry this is a few days late!

Well, 2008 was... well... I guess you could say it was "just another year". And... in the grand scheme of things, I suppose that is more true than not. Nonetheless, it was an eventful year for me.

It was a year of loss, being humbled and strange twists... honesty and dishonesty... exciting and new people and upsetting relationships... of being selfish...

I thought about making this a huge post, detailing all of my ups and downs... but I decided I'd just give you the Cliff Notes.

I hurt someone who is the most important person in my life. Even after all of my screw ups (and trust me, there have been many) he still loves me. Calling him an "amazing person" doesn't even begin to describe him.

Someone hurt me. Badly. But, I've since then learned from that relationship and have become a much better person from it.

I graduated from Mizzou with a BA in psychology!

I got into grad school in Chicago!

And then I declined my own entrance so I could...

Move to California... and then I moved back because...

I decided to follow my heart and sell my soul for music... I mean, get another BA in music!

I've learned to appreciate honesty and everyone who is in my life.

I've learned to forgive and forge ahead, because dwelling in the past sucks... a bunch.

I've learned to be confident and love myself.

Quite a year, eh? I am super excited for 2009. I am thankful for all of my friends and my family, for my health, my talents, my accomplishments and my failures and everything in between. Here's to 2009...

2008, not so great, 2009, it will be GOOD...

    I mean.. swell...

I mean... fine... because that rhymes with 9...

    :-)

    Fun Time Fridays!

Well, I auditioned for scholarships. It went well. It kind of felt like juries, except more relaxed. And now I am hanging out with Emily Matthews. Fun time Fridays! Nothing too important going on tonight... oh, except for opera, ha! Come see some wonderful scenes! :-)
